The  IAMRI General/ Steering Committee Meeting 2015, was held on 21 July in Vigo, Spain. 

The parcipants from the members came to an agreement on the following points:.

Optimization of the IAMRI Governance

• Chairmanship, the chairmanship of the IAMRI which include a Chairman and a Co-Chairman, they come from different institutions/continents and will be rotated among its Steering Committee members. The Chairman and Co-Chairman shall serve for a term of two (2) years. The leader of the institution in which the Co-Chairman works shall be the next rotating Chairman.

• Given that IAMRI Secretary is kept at Ocean University of China, Secretary-General is to be rotated and nominated by the Chairman from their own institution and approved by the Steering Committee with a simple majority vote. Secretary-General serves a term of two 2 years.

• The Amendment of the IAMRI Constitution will be discussed and approved by vote at the next General Meeting.

  The President of Pukyong National University will serve as the Co-Chairman for the year 2016.

• Members should take turns to host the two events mentioned above. All members are eligible to forward their application to the annual Meeting for approval.

• In principle, the Symposium and Summer School should take place simultaneously. Professors present will also be invited to give lectures during the Summer School.

• Generally, the full class of each Summer School is 40 PhD students, with three from each member institution. The actual quota is subject to negotiation result between the host institution and members. This program is also open to all associated institutions of IAMRI members.

• The home institutions or participants themselves bear the international travel fees and local accommodation cost, while the host covers the food, local transportation and material expense. It is more than good if the organizer acquires fund from 3rd party for all academic activities.

• To further promote IAMRI as a big name internationally, our programs ought to be open to institutions and people beyond the alliance. The organizer can charge if necessary.

• The general topic of Symposium and Summer School of 2016 is Scientific Challenges in Ocean and Coastal Systems..

• to encourage the convocation of joint seminars, workshops, conferences, and symposia in the field of marine sciences that facilitates the collaboration among the IAMRI members

• Some special academic events on marine sciences whether organized independently by members or through cooperation with the third party should be open to all IAMRI members. All information related should be released through Coordinator Group or IMARI websites.

• The promotion of student exchanges and joint cultivation would be one of the focuses down the line. We advise the implementation of “the fundamental to higher levels” principle and start from the joint cultivation of doctors and graduates.

• To encourage scientists and professors among the alliance go for various kinds of cooperation research
